Supporting Effective Medicines Management

Focussed primarily on General Practice, our services range from providing innovative, pharmacist-led support to reduce GP workload through our Prescribing Management service to supporting patient safety and Care Quality Commission compliance through our Emergency Drug Management services.

Optimal - Prescribing Management

Managing the daily workload of repeat prescriptions and prescription requests is an essential but time consuming part of general practice. The medical practitioner time needed to manage this workload can run to several hours each day even in practices with average practice list sizes. Over recent years consultation rates within general practice have grown steadily. Prescribing management is a new non-medical prescribing model developed by Rycroft Health to support GP practices in managing the ever growing workload

Optimal - Training & Therapeutics Service

Our Training & Therapeutics Services has been designed to bring together two key elements of effective medicines optimisation - academic detailing and therapeutic optimisation reviews. Delivered across a range of topics which are developed in line the local and national medicines optimisation agenda, the Training & Therapeutics Service provides both prescriber education around medicines optimisation and support the optimisation of patient management through therapeutic review.

Emergency Drug Management Service For General Practice

Maintaining the medicines used by GPs in the provision of emergency care has, until now, been a time-consuming process usually involving ensuring the completeness of the bags, checking the expiry dates of the constituent drugs and noting the circumstances in which any items are used. In addition, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have advised practices that they expect to see evidence that a process and system is in place to check that drugs are in date and equipment is well maintained. Working in conjunction with our sister company gpbags.co.uk, our Emergency Bag Service takes all the hard work out of managing emergency medicines within your practice. We provide a range of bags, each clearly marked for a specific clinical area, complete with emergency dosage instruction sheets. We automatically replace each bag well within its expiry date and provide an on-line summary of each bag. Online audit trails are provided showing bag status to help practices to better manage their emergency medicines whilst supporting CQC compliance standards.
